Santiago.- <\/strong>The deputy for Santiago province, Mateo Espaillat<\/strong>, defended the Government’s public investment policy this Tuesday and stated that, although some works may seem small, they have a significant impact on the communities where they are executed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Espaillat<\/strong> highlighted that the current administration has distributed public investment in a planned manner across different municipalities and districts, while asserting that there is practically no area in Santiago that has not received some type of government intervention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey are small constructions, but for that community they are important<\/strong>\u201d, maintained the legislator, referring to works such as sports facilities and other specific solutions demanded by the residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The deputy also responded to questions regarding the country’s debt level and rejected reports that, in his view, present the economic and financial reality of the Dominican Republic in a distorted manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Espaillat compared the disbursement and debt levels of the last administrations, noting that during the eight years of the Danilo Medina government, around 48 billion dollars were disbursed, while the current administration has accumulated about 26 billion, according to the figures he cited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Likewise, he referred to the evolution of the size of the Dominican economy and maintained that the figures should be analyzed in terms of economic growth and not in isolation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The congressman acknowledged that the behavior of public debt is one of the issues that most concerns the country, but warned that the debate must be based on verifiable data and not on information that could lead to wrong conclusions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy communication suggests that the debt issue is perhaps one of the most concerning programs in the country, but that does not mean that everything being said is true,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
