Washington .- <\/strong>U.S. President Donald Trump<\/strong> attributed this Tuesday the assassination attempt he suffered during a 2024 election campaign rally to a “Democrat plot,” despite there being no evidence that the administration of then-Democratic President Joe Biden<\/strong> was involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Everyone knows that Joe Biden’s corrupt FBI did not do what they were supposed to do regarding the lunatic who shot me in Butler, Pennsylvania,” the Republican wrote on his social network Truth Social.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Trump asserted that, when he took office on January 20, 2025, most of the information regarding the assassination attempt “had disappeared, was altered, corrupted, or simply lost.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“All of this was a plot by the Democrats to get me out of the election, which failed,” wrote the president, who considered that the then-director of the FBI<\/a>, Christopher Wray, should “pay the consequences for how he handled this assassination attempt.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The investigation into the assassination attempt on Trump<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On July 13, 2024, Trump, then Republican presidential candidate<\/strong>, suffered an assassination attempt during an outdoor campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, when 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks opened fire from the roof of a nearby building and one of the shots grazed the Republican’s ear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Corey Comperatore, a rally attendee, died in the attack, while Crooks was shot and killed by a Secret Service sniper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The federal investigation<\/strong> concluded that Crooks acted alone, although his motivation was not conclusively established, and there is no public evidence that the Democratic Party directed or had prior knowledge of the attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
