Argentine TikToker Agust\u00edn L\u00f3pez Gagliasso, 22, was found guilty and sentenced to 16 years in prison for a January 2025 crash in Rosario that killed a 41-year-old mother and her 17-year-old daughter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The victims, Tania Gandolfi and her daughter Agustina Garc\u00eda, were visiting the city when they were struck by a gray Peugeot 206 driven by L\u00f3pez Gagliasso. Both died in the crash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Rosario Criminal Justice Center sentenced L\u00f3pez Gagliasso for simple homicide with eventual intent and minor injuries. He was also banned from driving for 10 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the court\u2019s findings, L\u00f3pez Gagliasso was driving at approximately 120 kilometers per hour through a central area with pedestrian traffic, allowing him to anticipate the risk that his actions could result in someone\u2019s death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prosecutor Valeria Piazza, from the Specialized Prosecutor\u2019s Unit for Traffic Crashes and Negligent Crimes, said the incident began after L\u00f3pez Gagliasso had an altercation with a motorcyclist while driving through the Illia Avenue tunnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The prosecutor said he then accelerated and pursued the motorcyclist without considering the potential consequences. During the pursuit, he allegedly failed to use the brakes and made several zigzag maneuvers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During one of those maneuvers, he lost control of the vehicle and struck Gandolfi and her daughter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The prosecution argued that L\u00f3pez Gagliasso recognized death as a serious possibility but continued with what it described as exceptionally dangerous conduct that put the lives of others and himself at risk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The three-judge panel at the Rosario Criminal Justice Center ultimately found him guilty and imposed the 16-year prison sentence.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
