Santo Domingo Este.<\/strong>\u2013 \u00c1ngela Sarante, sister of the merengue artist Juli\u00e1n Oro Duro,<\/strong> stated this Tuesday morning that Zeneida Socorro Castillo<\/strong>, the artist’s wife, was not just her sister-in-law, but that she considered her a sister, and affirmed that the people who allegedly committed the crime were known to the victim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sarante <\/strong>offered these statements upon his arrival at the Blandino funeral home on Sabana Larga Avenue, where the remains of Castillo, 60, are being waked. She died after being attacked at the residence she shared with Juli\u00e1n Oro Duro, in the Brisa Oriental 6<\/strong> sector, in Santo Domingo East.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cZeni was not my sister-in-law, she was like my sister,\u201d<\/strong> stated \u00c1ngela, who also maintained that, in her opinion, those responsible for the act were people the victim knew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When questioned about why she made that statement, she replied: \u201cA person she knew.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The artist’s sister explained that Castillo was a very careful woman when it came to allowing people access to the home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShe was very cautious about opening doors. When she opened the door, it was because she knew the person,\u201d <\/strong>he\/she stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regarding Juli\u00e1n Oro Duro’s health status, \u00c1ngela Sarante said that her brother remains in a delicate condition due to the injuries he sustained during the attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy brother is in a delicate condition because they broke this bone here in three places. They wounded him three times in the head. He has an eye that he might lose,\u201d he declared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Investigating the attack<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The National Police and the Public Prosecutor’s Office are keeping the investigation open to determine the circumstances under which the attack occurred and to establish who was responsible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to information provided by the authorities, Castillo was found lifeless in the home, while Juli\u00e1n Oro Duro was injured and was transported to the General Hospital of the Plaza de la Salud (HGPS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prosecutor Wilson D\u00edaz reported that investigators are collecting evidence and reviewing security camera footage to determine the number of people who entered the residence. Preliminarily, it has been suggested that there may have been two individuals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The HGPS reported that, upon admission, the artist presented multiple traumas in the frontal and parietal regions of the head, in addition to injuries in other parts of the body. Upon arrival, he was conscious, alert, and with stable vital signs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The investigation remains open and authorities are still working to establish how the attackers entered the home, as well as the motive for the incident.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
