A 6-year-old Chinese girl has set a new women\u2019s world record for solving a 3\u00d73 Rubik\u2019s Cube in just over four seconds, state media reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Young speedcuber Lian Yunzhi broke the women\u2019s 3\u00d73 average world record twice this month at two World Cube Association certified competitions in Wuhan and Guangzhou, according to state broadcaster CCTV on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She posted averages of 4.52 and 4.27 seconds, after solving the Rubik\u2019s Cube five times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lian, who is from Chengdu, is \u201cthe first female speedcuber to average under 4.5 seconds\u201d, CCTV added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A video CCTV posted showed the small girl wearing a red gingham bow on her head as she deftly turned and twisted a Rubik\u2019s Cube.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After solving the puzzle she places the cube on the table, claps her hands and pumps a fist into the air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nicknamed \u201cZhizhi\u201d, Lian was first introduced to the Rubik\u2019s Cube after being enrolled into a class as a child \u2014 one of various extracurriculars alongside dance and music lessons, her mother Lin Yangxi, told local media outlets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lin \u201cgradually realised\u201d that cubing was an \u201cexcellent activity for fostering a child\u2019s comprehensive abilities\u201d and shifted her focus towards it, she told Chengdu\u2019s Red Star News.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Her daughter has now mastered over 1,300 Rubik\u2019s Cube solving algorithms, practising daily for two to three hours, Lin said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Photos from Red Star News showed Lian\u2019s trophies displayed on a shelf in her home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSolving a Rubik\u2019s Cube improves focus, memory, logical thinking, spatial awareness, and helps develop a healthy mindset toward winning and losing,\u201d Lin said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
