Moscow.-<\/strong> The authorities of the Russian republic of Tatarstan rejected today the request to call a protest rally against the alleged falsification of the results of the legislative elections<\/strong> that concluded on Sunday and in which the Kremlin party achieved a constitutional majority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The City Council of the Tatar capital<\/strong>, Kazan, denied the request submitted by activist Dmitry Rumyantsev, who proposed holding the event over the weekend at Freedom Square, as reported by the author of the initiative on his Telegram channel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Protesting prohibited<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The activist requested a rally with 499 participants, to which the Mayor’s Office responded that “the expression of opinions against the falsification of the elections (…) does not meet the requirements demanded by the legislation,” in addition to asserting that it cannot guarantee the safety of the attendees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“From the response, it is clear that they got scared and doubted my organizational skills. The authorities are afraid of the protests,” wrote Rumyantsev.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Similar initiatives were presented to the corresponding authorities in cities such as Saint Petersburg, Perm, and Izhevsk. In all those cases, they requested authorization to convene rallies with a maximum of five hundred participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the Central Election Commission (CEC)<\/strong> announced on Monday the best result in the history of the Kremlin’s party, United Russia -355 of the 450 seats in the Duma or chamber of deputies-, allegations of fraud have followed one after another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Experts cited by the press estimate that the ruling party, whose voting intention was around 34% before the elections, received about 18-20 million more votes than it actually achieved at the polls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to specialists cited by media outlets such as Important Stories, the fraudulent method used on this occasion was primarily the manipulation of turnout data,<\/strong> from 40% to nearly 60%.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The specialist Ivan Shushkin<\/strong> reported that in a Moscow polling station, New People won with 29.5% of the votes, but in the protocol published by the CEC, the final result listed was 86.8% for United Russia and 2% for the liberal party, notes the portal Meduza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the same vein, the only Russian pacifist party, Yabloko<\/a>, denounced numerous irregularities, especially in polling stations where there were no independent observers, the vast majority of the more than 91,000 authorized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yabloko candidates claim that their votes were flagrantly stolen, as the count does not correspond to the votes received by the opposition in some polling stations, which was reported by their own voters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For that reason, the party has addressed its voters in places like Saint Petersburg to go to the electoral commission with the demand that the vote count be repeated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The well-known activist and commentator Maxim Kats<\/strong> cited as an example two Moscow schools located in the same building, where in one, United Russia is the third most voted party with 21% of the votes, and in the neighboring one, it won with 90% of the ballots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both the former Russian Prime Minister, Mikhail Kasyanov<\/strong>, and tycoon Mikhail Khodorkovsky, believe that the Kremlin is very concerned about the growing number of Russians who oppose the war in Ukraine, the lack of progress on the front, and popular discontent with the socioeconomic situation in the country, which is why they needed a crushing victory over their rivals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
