A Dominican barber from Brooklyn was shot and killed early Thursday after allegedly resisting an attempted robbery outside a strip club in Queens. New York City police are searching for a masked and hooded gunman who remains unidentified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hector Figuereo, 49, was outside the Riviera Gentleman\u2019s Club near Steinway Street and 35th Avenue in Astoria around 3:50 a.m. when the alleged attacker approached him from behind and demanded a Miami Cuban-link bracelet, according to authorities. Figuereo, who lived in Sunset Park, was shot in the back and taken to Elmhurst Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Figuereo\u2019s childhood friend Edwin Cabrera told the Daily News that the barber was at the club celebrating a mutual friend\u2019s birthday, just three days before his own birthday. Cabrera said Figuereo lived with and cared for his mother after his father died of cancer several years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
