New York City is hiring for two full-time stock worker positions connected to the Staten Island Ferry, offering annual salaries ranging from $38,876 to $58,600. The positions do not require previous work experience or a specific level of education, and applications are open through October 8, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The jobs are with the Department of Transportation\u2019s F&GA-Pier 7 maintenance area, located at 1 Bay St. in Staten Island. Workers will receive, store, distribute and maintain materials, supplies, equipment and tools used in ferry operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Duties include packing and unpacking items, counting, weighing and measuring materials, loading and unloading deliveries, operating equipment such as forklifts and electric transport vehicles, and checking shipments against invoices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Employees will also select items from shelves to fulfill internal orders, maintain organized storage areas, help with inventories and use computer systems and handheld scanners to record information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
No specific education or previous experience is required. The city says candidates with experience in inventory, stock management or mail-related work may be preferred. Basic computer skills, organization, communication and the ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team are also valued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Applicants must be able to lift and transport materials weighing up to 70 pounds. Selected candidates must also obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential, known as TWIC, or complete the required federal background screening within 30 days of appointment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
