Santo Domingo.– President Luis Abinader led the launch this Tuesday of the national campaign “Unbreakable” (“Inquebrantables”), an initiative aimed at strengthening prevention, values-based education, resilience, and positive decision-making among Dominican children, adolescents, and youth.

During the event, the president stated that youth represents one of the greatest opportunities for the country’s development and maintained that no young person should be defined by their circumstances, their wounds, their mistakes, or the limitations of their environment.

“Your future is not determined by the place where you were born, nor by the difficulties you have faced, nor by the mistakes you have made,” expressed President Abinader, while defining Inquebrantables as a national cause that transcends political differences and places youth at the center of public policy.

The head of state highlighted that Dominican youth need opportunities in the present, not promises for the future, and pointed out that the campaign seeks to build a broad support network that allows them to face the challenges of their environment with guidance, mentorship, and greater opportunities for development.

The president of the National Drug Council, Alejandro de Jesús Abreu, stated that this initiative constitutes a call for the strengthening and defense of youth, families, schools, and communities.

During his opening remarks, Abreu highlighted that Inquebrantables seeks to make visible that the majority of Dominican youth is healthy, creative, and entrepreneurial, contrary to what is often disseminated on digital social networks.

He pointed out that this youth is represented by more than 3,300,000 young people who study in schools, colleges, universities, Infotep, ITLA and other training centers; young people who create art, promote entrepreneurship, practice sports and are part of religious, community and social groups.

“We seek to make the unbreakability of Dominican youth visible, because the absolute majority of our youth is healthy,” affirmed Abreu, while highlighting that the campaign also calls for the mobilization of society to support vulnerable youth and strengthen their spirit of creativity, study, and entrepreneurship.

For his part, Raúl Baz, responsible for the presentation of the campaign, explained that Inquebrantables arises as a communicational response to problems that affect children, adolescents, and young people, including violence, abuse, bullying, drugs, school dropout, and other social pressures.

Baz indicated that the proposal breaks with traditional prevention models by not focusing solely on negative statistics, but on the right decisions, resilience, and the stories of those who have known how to resist pressure, ask for help, get back up, and choose a better path.

The campaign was promoted by First Lady Raquel Arbaje, together with the Attorney General’s Office, after analyzing various issues that affect childhood, adolescence, and youth. According to its promoters, the initiative seeks to generate a national conversation based on stories of overcoming, attitude, and brave decisions, under the creative concept “My Unbreakable First Time.

As part of the event, several students shared testimonies with the attendees about their “unwavering first time,” recounting personal experiences in which they decided to face difficult situations, resist pressure, or make decisions that positively marked their lives.

Likewise, an audiovisual was presented in which various Dominican personalities narrate decisive moments of their personal and professional trajectories, with messages of overcoming, resilience, leadership, and responsibility aimed at new generations.

One of the most novel aspects of Inquebrantables is that all of its actions will be financed with resources recovered from corruption and drug trafficking. In this way, funds that were previously linked to social harm will be transformed into opportunities to educate, guide, protect, and promote better attitudes among young people and among all Dominican men and women.

The campaign is supported by personalities from different areas of national life, who joined as Unbreakables to share their experiences and contribute their voices to this cause. Among them are Luis Oscar Villanueva, Amalia Brea, David Ortiz, Ricardo Ripoll, Giulio Pelliccione, Thania Fernández, Francina Hungría, Luisín Jiménez, and Freddy Ginebra.

The initiative stems from a central idea: We are all unbreakable.

Inquebrantables seeks to become a national movement of prevention, guidance, and hope, aimed at reminding young people that there is always a possible choice, that asking for help is bravery, and that no circumstance is stronger than the will to rise.
