In that sense, referring to the delay in the decision, the president stated that they expect to issue a response in the coming days, once the technical and strategic analysis by the Civil Aviation Board (JAC) is completed, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the aeronautical sector. It is recalled that Venezuela suspended air operations in July 2024 due to diplomatic tensions following Dominican criticism of the electoral results of Nicolás Maduro. Since then, both passengers and cargo have had to use routes with layovers, mainly via Panama or Colombia.Although the National Institute of Civil Aviation (INAC) of Venezuela already announced the intention to reactivate flights, Abinader made it clear that there is no definitive answer but a deep analysis, taking into account security issues, bilateral framework and diplomatic conditions. He recalled that the Dominican Republic complied with the suspension imposed by Venezuela, although he emphasized that any reopening will depend on a complete evaluation by the cabinet.
