Santo Domingo.– Aeropuertos Dominicanos Siglo XXI (Aerodom) informed that the electrical power was restored throughout the terminal building of Las Américas International Airport, José Francisco Peña Gómez (AILA), after the failure that affected operations for several hours.

“It was possible to restore power throughout the AILA terminal building. We appreciate your patience and understanding in this extraordinary situation,” the company indicated.

The failure originated in an internal circuit breaker of the airport’s electrical system, which prevented the distribution of power to the different areas of the terminal, although the runway and control tower continued to operate thanks to an independent system.

During the contingency, the arrival and departure processes of passengers were affected, because the internal systems could not be used, which generated delays in airport services.
Aerodom reiterated that the incident was not caused by a cyberattack, but by a technical failure in the internal equipment, and assured that it will continue to apply maintenance and supervision protocols to guarantee the stability of the service.
