Santo Domingo.– The terminal building of Las Américas International Airport (AILA) is without electricity since the morning of this Sunday due to a fault in the internal distribution system, revealed Luis José López, Communications Manager of Aeropuertos Dominicanos Siglo XXI (Aerodom). According to the spokesperson, the failure originated in an internal sectionizer of the terminal building, which, although it receives energy, fails to transfer it to the circuits that supply the different areas of the airport, affecting general operations.

Aerodom’s technical staff is working on repairing the equipment. In the meantime, the hiring of two emergency plants that are heading to the terminal was arranged to guarantee the supply to the substations in case the solution is not immediate. The authorities have not yet reported the estimated time for the restoration of the electrical service, but they assure that they are continuing their work to normalize operations as soon as possible.
