Ambassador Leah Francis Campos highlights shared security, strength, and prosperity with the Dominican Republic during AMCHAMDR luncheon

Santo Domingo.- The American Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic (AMCHAMDR) held its December luncheon, with the special participation of Leah Francis Campos, Ambassador of the United States in the Dominican Republic, who was the guest speaker and guest of honor. During the event, he presented the conference titled “United States and the Dominican Republic: security, strength and prosperity“. In her speech, Ambassador Campos highlighted the historical and strategic depth of the bilateral relationship, stating that, for a long time, the Dominican Republic has been one of the United States’ most faithful partners in the Caribbean.

“Together, we have worked to expand security cooperation, strengthen education, and improve public health. When we stand together, we both become stronger. Therefore, the work we do together is, literally, ‘America First’ and ‘the Dominican Republic First’ at the same time. That is to say, we fully respect and celebrate that the Dominican Republic puts the Dominican Republic first. This is how true partners and friends operate: respecting each other’s sovereignty, values, and priorities,” he expressed.

The diplomat articulated her presentation around three pillars: “security, strength, and prosperity.” Regarding security, she emphasized the importance of the fight against financial crime and illicit activities, stating that “when we stop the flow of illicit money, we protect jobs, families, and communities. We maintain the equity of our markets, the credibility of our institutions, and the security of our population.”

Regarding economic and commercial strength, he reaffirmed the commitment of his mission in the country: “My Embassy is committed to promoting the commercial interests of the United States and its companies in the Dominican Republic, while we seek ways to expand and improve reciprocal trade between our two great countries”. In the pillar of shared prosperity, Campos positively valued the country’s institutional advances: “we welcome the efforts of the Dominican Republic to strengthen institutions and improve regulatory efficiency, efforts that help attract high-quality investments from the United States“.
