Army stops two vehicles and arrests more than 50 undocumented immigrants in Dajabón

Dajabón.- As a result of intelligence work carried out by members of the Dominican Republic Army (ERD), stationed in this demarcation, two vehicles full of undocumented immigrants were stopped in the El Rodeo section of the Partido municipality. The report indicates that while the military personnel at the service post in the “El Rodeo” Checkpoint were carrying out patrol duties, they spotted two (02) suspicious vehicles traveling at high speed, so they proceeded to follow them. Through pursuit, a Toyota Highlander Jeep, white in color, license plate G455645, chassis No. 51DKKREHXES030809, was intercepted and detained, whose driver fled upon noticing the military presence, abandoning the vehicle, inside of which were eleven (11) people of Haitian nationality, distributed in ten (10) men and one (01) woman, all in irregular migratory condition. In addition, the Jeep, Suzuki Vitara brand, green color, illegible license plate and chassis, driven by citizen José Luis Contreras Figueroa, was also detained, who was transporting ten (10) undocumented foreigners, distributed in six (06) men and four (04) women.

Likewise, the military intercepted 31 of these foreigners while they were trying to evade the checkpoints in the Loma de Cabrera area. Both the foreigners, the Jeep driver and the vehicles were transferred to the Beller fortress in Dajabón; from where the undocumented will be handed over and processed by Immigration, while the detainee and the vehicles will be handed over to the public prosecutor’s office for their respective submissions.
