Body in advanced state of decomposition found in bushes in Santiago

Santiago.- A man was found dead and in an advanced state of decomposition among some bushes in the municipal district of Hato del Yaque in the province of Santiago, in an event that has caused alarm among residents of the area and which keeps authorities investigating the identity of the victim and the circumstances of his death.

The corpse was located near a residential area and, due to the advanced state of decomposition of the body, the authorities have not been able to establish who it was or how long it remained abandoned at the site.

Gilberto Jesús Valerio, director of the Civil Defense in Hato del Yaque, reported that the recovery was carried out by the competent authorities after community members alerted them to the presence of the body.

“A lifeless body found in front of a residential area was recovered. It was highly decomposed and it was not possible to identify it. We do not know how many days it had been in the area,” he explained.

The discovery has caused concern among residents, who claim that the presence of a corpse for several days without being detected highlights the need to strengthen surveillance in the area.

Yonatan Rodríguez stated that the situation has the families in the community worried, especially due to the uncertainty regarding how the body arrived at the location and how long it remained hidden among the brush.

For his part, José Cruz indicated that some neighbors had commented on strange odors in recent days, although no one suspected they came from a corpse.

The authorities transferred the body to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF), where the corresponding autopsy will be performed to determine the victim’s identity, the cause of death, and the approximate time they had been deceased.

As investigations progress, the case has raised questions among the residents of Hato del Yaque, who are demanding answers regarding one of the most shocking findings recently recorded in that community.
