Child under 4 years old dies by drowning in a swimming pool

Dajabón. – A four-year-old boy died by drowning this Saturday while spending time with his family in a villa in the area of La Ceiba, in the municipality of Loma de Cabrera, Dajabón province. The minor, identified as Albeiro, was the son of Yosmari Germán, a resident of the Palo Colorado sector. According to reports, the family was participating in the birthday celebration of another child when the unfortunate event occurred. According to the mother’s testimony, less than five minutes had passed since she lost sight of the child. Upon searching for him, they found him submerged in the pool, with no vital signs. Albeiro was rushed to the Doctor Ramón Adriano Villalona Hospital, where a doctor certified his death. The doctor reported that the body showed no signs of violence, so it is presumed that the cause of death was asphyxiation by immersion.

Agents from the Central Directorate of Investigation (DICRIM) and other authorities went to the scene to begin investigations. They indicated that they will review the security cameras installed in the area in order to clarify the circumstances of the event. The minor’s body was sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF), in Santiago, for the corresponding autopsy. The tragedy has generated deep consternation among family members, friends, and residents of Loma de Cabrera, who mourn the loss of the child.
