Santo Domingo.- Dominican authorities received Willy Batista Santos this weekend, a Dominican citizen identified as a member of an international drug trafficking structure, who was extradited from Aruba to face charges related to the seizure of eight packages of cocaine at the Las Américas International Airport (AILA).
Batista Santos arrived in the country through the Joaquín Balaguer International Airport (La Isabela), under the custody of agents from the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), who handed him over to members of the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) for the corresponding procedures.
According to the authorities, the accused was wanted by the Dominican justice system after being linked to an investigation initiated in August 2025, when eight packages of cocaine were seized hidden inside a trash can on an aircraft bound for the city of Madrid, Spain.

Upon his arrival in the national territory, Batista Santos will be presented before the Public Prosecutor’s Office to face judicial measures for alleged violation of Law 50-88 on Drugs and Controlled Substances.

The DNCD and the Public Ministry keep investigations open to determine if there are other individuals involved in the structure that operated using airport terminals for the international trafficking of narcotic substances.
