Santo Domingo.– The National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) and the National Police arrested in the municipal district of La Caleta, Boca Chica, a man who was a fugitive and declared in contempt of court for his alleged connection to the seizure of more than 300 kilograms of cocaine at the Caucedo Multimodal Port.
The detainee was identified as Gregory Arturo Calzado Paredes, alias “Big Leaguer”, who was located and captured on Primera Street in La Caleta.

According to the authorities, Calzado Paredes is also being investigated for his alleged ties to the so-called Operation Kraken, a criminal structure accused of participating in the shipment of large drug cargoes to Puerto Rico, the United States, Canada, and several countries in Europe.
The arrest comes as part of search and capture operations for individuals wanted by authorities for their alleged involvement in drug trafficking activities.

The detainee was placed under the control of the corresponding authorities for the appropriate legal purposes, while investigations related to the drug seizure and Operation Kraken continue.

It is the agency of the Dominican Republic in charge of preventing, investigating, and combating the illicit trafficking of drugs and controlled substances.
In cases like the one you shared with me, the DNCD can carry out operations, investigations, seizures, and arrests, generally in coordination with the National Police and the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The arrest was carried out during a search operation conducted by agents of the DNCD and the National Police in La Caleta, where Calzado Paredes, who was wanted by the authorities, was located.
The detainee was wanted after being declared in contempt of court within the proceedings related to the seizure of more than 300 kilograms of cocaine found at the Caucedo Multimodal Port.
The authorities are also keeping investigations open to determine the level of involvement Calzado Paredes may have had in the operations under investigation and to establish possible connections with other members of the structure.
The so-called Operation Kraken is part of the investigations related to the shipment of large quantities of controlled substances from the Dominican Republic to international destinations, according to information provided by the authorities.
Among the destinations mentioned in the investigation are Puerto Rico, the United States, Canada, and European countries, so the inquiries seek to determine the possible involvement of different individuals in the drug distribution and export chain.
Following his arrest, Gregory Arturo Calzado Paredes was placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which must continue with the corresponding process and present the evidence gathered during the investigation to the courts.
