Santo Domingo.- The attack on the Twin Towers, which occurred on September 11, 2001, also left a deep mark on Dominicans, some of whom remember how they experienced that day and the pain caused by the loss of thousands of lives.
María Luisa Sánchez said that at that moment she was working at a company and that one of her bosses was among the fatalities of the attacks.
Their testimony reflects the impact that the tragedy had on those who, in addition to observing it through media images, received the news of the death of people in their circle.

Other citizens who remembered the event lamented the loss of life and called on leaders to prioritize dialogue as a way to prevent similar events from happening again.

“We regret the death of all those firefighters and those people and we hope that things like this do not happen again,” expressed Manuel.
Although some Dominicans did not have family or acquaintances among the victims, they claim they felt the pain as their own upon seeing the images of the tragedy.
“I didn’t lose anyone I knew, but in that moment you think that everyone is someone you know and it hurts just the same,” stated Paulina Uribe.
25 years after the attacks, the memory remains among the Dominicans who witnessed that event that shocked the world and changed contemporary history forever.
The September 11 attacks left nearly 3,000 people dead and caused profound political and social repercussions that transcended the borders of the United States.
