Santo Domingo.– The Executive Branch ordered the extradition of Dominicans Fidel Antonio Knight Cerda and Mario Elvin Jáquez to the United States of America, who are required by the authorities of that country on charges of drug trafficking and money laundering.
The measure is contained in Decree number 541-26, which extradites Knight Cerda, and 542-26, which refers to Mario Elvin Jáquez, also known as Mario Jáquez or Elvin Fernández. They are accused of conspiracy to distribute cocaine with the intent that the substance be illegally imported into the United States, aiding and abetting the distribution of that drug, and conspiracy to commit money laundering offenses.

The extradition requests were submitted by the Embassy of the United States of America in the Dominican Republic via diplomatic note no. 2025-1043, dated December 29, 2025, by virtue of the superseding indictment with criminal case number 22-452 (DRD), also known as 3:22-cr-00452-RAM, filed on September 7, 2023, before the United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico.
The decree orders the extradition of Fidel Antonio Knight Cerda to the authorities of the United States to answer for the charges brought against him by the justice system of that country, in accordance with the applicable legal provisions and international treaties.
