Infotep sponsors masterclass on the magic of hospitality service

La Altagracia.-  Two renowned chefs from the Balearic Islands will offer the masterclass “The magic of hospitality service”, at the School of Hospitality, Gastronomy and Pastry of the National Institute for Technical Professional Training (Infotep), in Higüey.

The masterclass will be taught this Thursday the 11th at 9:00 a.m., by executive chefs Francisco Alabat, professor at the Escola d’Hoteleria de les Illes Balears, and José María Calonge, a renowned Spanish culinary trainer, who also demonstrated techniques on different applications of siphon foam.

This activity is carried out as part of the visit to the country by a delegation from the School of Hospitality of the Balearic Islands (EHIB), Spain, with the purpose of strengthening academic cooperation and knowledge exchange in the areas of hospitality, gastronomy, and tourism services.

In addition to the chefs, Alabat and Calonge, the delegation is made up of María Llompart Bibiloni, managing director of the EHIB; María Magdalena Vicens, head of Accommodation, and Laura Margarita Oliver Guimerá, deputy director of the Spanish training institution.

The visit is carried out within the framework of the Comprehensive Tourism and Hotel Training Program, the result of the strategic alliance between Infotep, the Government of the Balearic Islands, the Association of International Investors (Inverotel), and the Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (Asonahores).

As part of their work agenda, the delegation will conduct technical tours, academic exchange meetings, and cooperation activities with Infotep specialists. In addition, they will participate in the certification of Dominican teachers trained at the EHIB.

Highly recognized chefs

Francisco Alabat, a hospitality and cocktail professional, is the head of the Restaurant Department at the Escuela d’Hoteleria de les Illes Balears, one of the most recognized institutions for hotel and gastronomic training in the Balearic Islands.

He/She is part of the teaching staff for specialized programs in restaurant business direction and management, where he/she imparts knowledge related to restaurant management, food and beverage services, and professional training in the sector.

José María Calonge is a renowned executive chef. He stands out mainly for his extensive educational work and his experience in the field of professional cooking. He is widely known for serving as head of the Cooking Department at the prestigious Escola d’Hoteleria de les Illes Balears (EHIB).
