Santo Domingo. The rector of the Instituto Tecnológico de Las Américas (ITLA), Jimmy Rosario Bernard, held a working meeting with the executive director of the National Health Insurance (SeNaSa), Dr. Edward Guzmán, with the purpose of socializing institutional interests and reviewing opportunities for updating and expanding the collaboration agreement that both entities maintain.
During the meeting, the authorities exchanged proposals aimed at strengthening inter-institutional cooperation, identifying new areas of collaboration that allow for expanding the impact of initiatives with high social and technological value.

Among the main topics addressed during the meeting was the continued support for the ProtoScanner project, an initiative developed by ITLA that uses 3D scanning and printing technologies for the manufacturing of custom prosthetics. Likewise, discussions were held regarding opportunities to expand the scope of this collaboration, with the goal of benefiting a greater number of Dominicans who require these devices.
Similarly, both institutions exchanged views on the potential support of ITLA for the digital transformation processes promoted by SeNaSa, identifying cooperation opportunities based on the institute’s academic and technological experience to contribute to the modernization of public services.

As part of the proposed initiatives, the possibility of developing affiliation and orientation sessions regarding the services offered by SeNaSa was also addressed, aimed at ITLA students and administrative staff who do not yet have coverage, with the goal of facilitating their incorporation into the National Health Insurance and bringing the benefits of this social protection system closer to the academic community.
Rector Jimmy Rosario Bernard highlighted that these types of approaches represent an opportunity to consolidate strategic alliances that generate concrete results for the citizenry.
“Strengthening these alliances is strengthening the future of Dominicans, because technology has a greater impact when it is put at the service of the people,” expressed Rector Jimmy Rosario Bernard.

For his part, the executive director of SeNaSa, Dr. Edward Guzmán, valued the importance of continuing to strengthen the spaces for collaboration between both institutions.
“At SeNaSa, we value this partnership with ITLA and the potential it has to expand projects that directly benefit the population, supported by innovation and technology.
“Likewise, we reaffirm our commitment to facilitating access to health insurance through enrollment drives that allow us to bring our services closer to the institute’s students and collaborators,” stated Dr. Edward Guzmán.
On behalf of ITLA, also participating were Pedro Pablo Castro, Academic Vice-Rector; Eduardo de los Santos, Administrative and Financial Vice-Rector; Juan Matos, Vice-Rector of Extension and Social Outreach; Fabricio Cabrera, Academic Advisor; Daybelis Chevalier, Director of Human Resources; and Edwin Rodríguez, Coordinator of the Engineering Center of Excellence.
The SeNaSa delegation was composed of Dr. Edward Guzmán, executive director, and Humberto Medina, health manager.
This meeting reaffirms the interest of both institutions to continue strengthening their cooperative relationship and exploring new opportunities to expand the scope of the inter-institutional agreement, promoting initiatives that contribute to innovation, digital transformation, access to health services, and the well-being of the Dominican population.
