Man accused of killing a woman in Gualey

Santo Domingo.- The National Police reported that a man involved in the death of a woman due to stab wounds surrendered voluntarily, in an incident that occurred on the morning of Friday, January 2, 2026, in the Gualey sector of the National District. This is José Ramón Montero, 32 years old, who went to the office of the Strategic Communications Directorate of the National Police, headed by Colonel Diego Pesqueira, spokesperson for the institution.

Montero showed up at the police headquarters accompanied by his mother and a legal representative. The victim was identified as Rosmery Sosa Rodríguez, 29 years old, who died as a result of multiple stab wounds, according to the preliminary diagnosis. The case is under investigation to establish the circumstances in which the event occurred. In that regard, the corresponding agencies are carrying out the necessary procedures for the complete clarification of the event. The detainee will be brought to justice through the Public Prosecutor’s Office, for the corresponding legal purposes.
