Santo Domingo.– The constant arguments and jealousy would have marked the relationship between Rosmery Sosa, 30 years old, and her partner, who is identified as the person responsible for taking her life during the early hours of this Friday in the Gualey sector, Distrito Nacional, according to the victim’s family.

Amaurys Vargas, the deceased’s uncle, explained that the incident occurred around 1:00 in the morning, after an argument that arose after sharing with friends during the New Year’s celebrations. After committing the crime, the aggressor, identified only as José Ramón, fled.

Another relative, Luis Vargas, stated that the man was extremely jealous and that the arguments intensified when he consumed alcohol. He also indicated that Rosmery had been a victim of previous aggressions, which she kept silent to avoid conflicts with her family. “He would cut her and she wouldn’t say anything, she would say she had fallen so that one wouldn’t look for problems,” he recounted. In that same vein, Sortera Vargas, the victim’s grandmother, stated that days before the event, the aggressor had expressed his annoyance at Rosmery’s lifestyle, alleging that he could not “stand” her going out and consuming alcoholic beverages. Rosmery Sosa, described by neighbors, friends, and family as a hardworking and cheerful woman, died from several stab wounds, leaving three underage children orphaned, aged 11, 8, and 5 years old. The young woman worked at a lottery bank and had approximately three years of relationship with her aggressor, with whom she did not have children. The authorities are actively searching for the suspect to answer to justice.
