Man linked to attempted assault on young person in Serrallés sector arrested

Santo Domingo.– The National Police, in coordination with the Public Prosecutor’s Office, arrested a man identified as the person responsible for an attempted robbery in which a young man was wounded with multiple stab wounds, after resisting being stripped of his belongings, in an incident that occurred in the Serrallés sector of the National District.

It is Johnny González, 41 years old, from whom the knife, the clothing, and the motorcycle with two license plates that he used in the incident in question were seized.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, September 12, when the victim was heading toward the lobby of the tower where they reside, after parking their vehicle in the vicinity.

The victim, Gustavo Adolfo III Mejía-Ricart Risk, 23, is receiving medical attention at a health center due to multiple stab wounds he sustained.

According to investigations, the assailant, while traveling on a motorcycle in search of a victim, noticed the young man walking toward the tower where he resides, so he attempted to intercept him and then followed him into the lobby.

Faced with the victim’s resistance, he inflicted several stab wounds, without managing to consummate the robbery, subsequently fleeing on the motorcycle.

The authorities continue the investigations, while the detainee was placed under the control of the Public Ministry for the corresponding legal purposes.
