Man shoots himself in the head in Barahona

Barahona, RD. – A man lost his life on the afternoon of this Saturday in an event that occurred in the El Alfa sector, in this southern province. The victim was identified as Rafael Santana Beltré, 51 years old, who resided in the area where the incident occurred. According to preliminary reports, the man had used a firearm of his own. Unofficial versions indicate that he was going through a depressive episode. However, the circumstances of the event are being investigated by officers of the Southern Regional Sub-Directorate of the Department of Criminal Investigations (Dicrim) of the National Police, in order to clarify what happened and determine responsibilities, if any. The body was transferred to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif) for the corresponding legal procedures.
