Santo Domingo.- The
National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) and members of the National Police, coordinated by members of the Public Ministry, seized more than one million 400 thousand grams of different narcotics, in joint interdiction operations, deployed in a large part of the national territory, during the last 30 days.
Within these actions, which are part of the new strategies to hit the micro-trafficking networks, 295 raids and more than 15,000 operations were carried out nationwide, where 3,942 people were arrested, managing to take thousands of portions of controlled substances out of circulation.
During the deployment, agents, police officers, and prosecutors seized 1,288,066 grams of alleged cocaine, 143,930 of marijuana, 15,078 of crack, 427 of hashish, 163 grams of tusi, 9.5 of methamphetamines, 3.3 of heroin, as well as 292 ecstasy pills, for a consolidated total of 1,447,979 grams.
Also seized were 26 firearms, 66 knives and machetes, 08 vehicles, 154 motorcycles, 1,151 cell phones, 160 communication radios, 04 bulletproof vests, 433 scales, 15 slot machines, RD$2,331,541 Dominican pesos, US$4,280 U.S. dollars, among other evidence, used for the trafficking and sale of controlled substances.
“These results are the fruit of a hard and intense work by the DNCD, the Police and the Public Ministry, who comply with the mandate of the law, to eliminate the sale and trafficking of narcotics through multiple interventions, in neighborhoods and provinces throughout the country.”
The authorities announced that they will continue to intensify interdiction operations against the micro-trafficking of drugs, joint actions that bring security and tranquility to the citizenry.
