Santo Domingo.– The Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic (MINERD) reported that payments related to corrective maintenance services and school infrastructure works will continue the procedure established by Law No. 16-26, after concluding the processing of the corresponding files and forwarding them to the competent authorities.
The institution explained that the aforementioned legislation contemplates the creation of a specialized commission with functional dependence on the Ministry of Finance and Economy, in charge of collecting, evaluating, verifying, and validating the claims presented by State contractors derived from public works executed with or without a formal contract.
In that sense, the MINERD specified that the review, validation, and authorization of payments covered within the scope of Law 16-26 correspond exclusively to said commission, which has the responsibility to analyze and decide on the files submitted in accordance with the current legal procedure.
The entity indicated that all files related to contractors included in the scope of the regulations have already been processed internally and forwarded to continue the stages of evaluation, validation, and eventual authorization of the corresponding payments.
