PRM claims it remains the organization with the highest number of registered militants
Santo Domingo.– The president of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), José Ignacio Paliza, rejected this Wednesday that the organization has reduced its registry of militants and attributed the decrease in the records to the purification process ordered by the Central Electoral Board (JCE).
When questioned about the difference between the registry submitted by the PRM in 2023 and the list verified in 2026, Paliza explained that the JCE detected cases of citizens with dual membership in different political organizations, which forced all parties to review and re-validate their records.

“No, it is not true that it has been reduced. We must remember that the Central Electoral Board forced the parties, in accordance with the law and regulations, to deposit our respective voter rolls. But it identified a large group of Dominicans in all political parties who had more than one affiliation,” he expressed.

The official indicated that, as a result of that process, the PRM has had to contact its supporters again to confirm their affiliation and re-register those who correspond.
“We have all had to do the work of re-verifying our membership, knocking on doors again, and re-registering members. We are in the process of building that base once again,” he maintained.
Paliza assured that the registry will continue to grow and stated that in the next submission period to the JCE, the party will present a more extensive record.

“In the next period, the next year, you are going to see a much broader registry,” he stated.
Likewise, he defended that the PRM remains the political organization with the highest number of registered militants and urged to compare its figures with those of the other political forces.
“You will see that it is a third, a fourth of what the PRM registry is. We are making a laborious, sincere, and correct effort so that the membership that is duly identified and verified with all the appropriate technological evidence is the one that is deposited before the Board,” he added.
According to the data filed with the JCE, the PRM went from reporting 3,092,289 affiliates in 2023 to a verified registry of 1,280,000 members in 2026, a difference of 1,812,289 records, equivalent to an approximate reduction of 58.6%.
Three years ago, the organization presented a registry of over three million registered members, which, as reported at the time by its National Internal Elections Commission, included more than 800,000 new members. However, after the process of updating and validating the membership, the number of verified affiliates stood at 1.28 million.
