Santo Domingo.– The President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, along with the First Lady, Raquel Arbaje, received this Monday their new identity and electoral card, in an act headed by the Central Electoral Board (JCE), which marks the formal start of the process of renewing the identification document in the country.
The president appeared at the JCE headquarters accompanied by the First Lady, where he was given the
new document, designed under
advanced technological standards and with high levels of security, as part of a
State project aimed at strengthening
national identity and
democratic integrity.
During the activity, the president of the JCE,
Román Jáquez Liranzo, explained that the new ID card incorporates
more durable materials,
laser engraving technology, a
security chip and
digital identity options, as well as a
staggered validity scheme according to the age of the citizens.
Jáquez Liranzo explained that the renewal process will be carried out
progressively, both nationally and abroad, with the aim of guaranteeing
transparency, reliability, and efficiency in the identification system of Dominicans.
