VIDEO: Guatemalan teenager wakes up inside her coffin after being presumed dead

A 15-year-old girl identified as Yuleidy Ixcotoyac woke up inside her coffin after spending nearly eight hours at a wake in El Jocote, a village in Guatemala’s Quiché department.

According to available information, the teenager lost consciousness after becoming ill. Her father, Abraham Ixcotoyac, said he noticed that she was not breathing and could not detect a pulse while he was driving her to seek medical attention.

“She left the house unconscious. I was taking her to the hospital,” her father told TV Sac. He clarified that she never reached a medical facility before he sought a coffin and took her back home.

During the wake, mourners noticed movement inside the coffin. When they realized what was happening, they rushed to help the teenager.

Yuleidy is reportedly conscious and recovering. The circumstances surrounding the incident have not been further detailed in the available information.
