Samaná.- The Provincial Government of Samaná held the Provincial Forum for Development, a high-level meeting that brought together government authorities, representatives of the productive sector, community leaders and academics, with the purpose of defining strategic priorities for sustainable development.

This forum is part of a series of regional meetings derived from the Northeast Forum, held in September 2023, promoted by Listín Diario in collaboration with the Universidad Católica Nordestana (UCNE) and with the support of the Ministry of Finance and Economy.

The organization was supported by the municipalities of Santa Bárbara de Samaná, Sánchez and Las Terrenas, as well as the directors of municipal districts, the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, the National Institute of Potable Water and Sewers (INAPA) and the Dominican Federation of Municipalities (FEDOMU), chaired by Lic. Nelson Núñez.

Among the authorities present were Senator Pedro Catrain, deputies Carmen Williams and Cecilio García, the mayor of Las Terrenas Eduardo Esteban Polanco, the deputy mayor of Sánchez Mariel Rodríguez, the director of the municipal district of Las Galeras Ana Reyes, the director of Arroyo Barril Luis Felipe Fermín and the director of El Limón Fernando Mercado, along with representatives of government institutions, community leaders and members of the press. The event was broadcast live by TELENORD and rebroadcast through the digital platforms Samaná en Sintonía and the Grupo de Medios Digitales Redes del Nordeste, allowing thousands of citizens inside and outside the country to follow the development of the day. Samaná thus becomes the third province in the Northeast to hold its provincial forum, following María Trinidad Sánchez and Hermanas Mirabal. The next meeting will be held in September in Duarte province, as part of this initiative that seeks to strengthen inter-institutional dialogue and promote the integral development of the region.
The Samaná Provincial Forum ratifies the commitment of authorities and citizens to the construction of a more resilient, equitable and sustainable province, for the benefit of present and future generations.
