SANTO DOMINGO. – Faced with the constant disappearances and sexual violations of children that have been registered in the country, the president of the Senate, Ricardo de los Santos, guaranteed that in the next legislature the legislative body will prioritize analyzing and providing a timely solution to the bill that establishes the rapid response procedure for the disappearance or abduction of minors, Alerta Amber RD. The representative of Sánchez Ramírez highlighted that the initiative will be part of the broad legislative agenda and the commission that will be designated for its study will have the commitment to strengthen it, applying a readjustment attached to the constitutional mandates. De Los Santos insisted that the Senate will give special treatment to the Amber Alert project so that it can be sanctioned in a timely manner, just as it did with the Penal Code, the Criminal Procedure Code, and the Labor Code, legislative pieces that were modified and approved in a single year. “Because if we have shown anything to the country, it is that we work to be as productive as possible,” he added.

“In the institution, we continue with the commitment to analyze the projects and strengthen them, exhausting the corresponding analysis processes,” said Ricardo de los Santos, president of the Senate of the Republic.

Regarding the scourge of violence against minors, the senator considered that fathers and mothers should have greater supervision of their children and not neglect them, because sometimes sexual aggressors are people from the family environment, “and it is in trust that danger lies.”

The AMBER Alert is a program designed as an effective dissemination tool, whose main purpose is to facilitate the prompt location of minors in situations such as absence, abduction, kidnapping, disappearance, loss, or illegal deprivation of liberty, whether or not the commission of any illicit act is presumed in national territory.
