Azua, D.R. – On behalf of the Dominican Society of Pediatrics, Azua, Peravia, Barahona, and San Juan branches, Senator Lía Díaz de Díaz read a statement in which she expressed her deep concern regarding the recent cases of burns in children and adolescents reported in different areas of the country, especially in the Southern Region.
The legislator warned about the gravity of this situation, which puts the health and lives of minors at risk, and made an urgent call to the conscience of Dominican families to reinforce prevention measures at home.
“We urge families to maintain constant supervision of children, avoid their exposure to heat sources, check electrical and gas installations, and not allow minors to cook,” stated Díaz de Díaz during the reading of the statement.

Likewise, he reiterated the importance of preventive education and the commitment of responsible adults to avoid accidents that could leave physical and emotional scars on minors.
