Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) reported this Thursday that the floating bridge over the Ozama River will be closed to traffic from 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 9, to Wednesday, August 13, at the same time.
This intervention is part of the preventive maintenance plan for road infrastructure promoted by the MOPC, with the support of the Dominican Naval Industry, recognized for its experience in the conservation of maritime and fluvial structures.

To mitigate the impact of the closure, a special mobility plan has been coordinated with the National Institute of Transit and Terrestrial Transportation (Intrant), the General Directorate of Transit and Terrestrial Transportation Safety (Digesett), the Mayor’s Office of the National District, and the City Council of Santo Domingo Este.
Public Works informed in a statement that among the alternative routes are, in the east-west direction: the Ramón Matías Mella bridges (bicycle bridge) and Juan Bosch. In addition, the morning contraflow schedule will be extended in that direction.

Regarding the west-east direction, it will be possible to travel on the Juan Pablo Duarte and Ramón Matías Mella bridges, and the evening contraflow schedule will also be extended.
To avoid congestion on the roads near the area of influence of the bridge, Public Works recommends that the population use Francisco Alberto Caamaño Deño Avenue (Avenida del Puerto) or George Washington Avenue (Malecón), connecting to the east through Mexico or 27 de Febrero Avenues.
