Tolentino reveals network of Colombians perpetrated assault at inclusive cafeteria in Naco

SANTO DOMINGO. – Journalist and panelist of the program Esto No es Radio Show, Ramón Tolentino, revealed new details regarding the robbery that took place last Sunday, October 25th, at 3:00 PM at the Atelier de Nico café, a social inclusion space located on Roberto Pastoriza Street in the Naco sector of Santo Domingo that employs people with disabilities. According to the communicator, the robbery was perpetrated by a gang made up of four Colombian citizens who were arrested by the National Police and the Department of Criminal Investigations (DICRIM).
Tolentino clarified that the criminals’ objective was not to rob the cash register or the goods of the commercial establishment—founded by Mr. Tomás Sartori in favor of the inclusion of young people with special conditions like his son Nico—but to strip a regular customer, whom they had been tracking beforehand, of his belongings.
“It wasn’t the business they went to rob… these Colombians were four, two were riding in a vehicle and two on a motorcycle. The two in the vehicle had been following that customer who is a regular at the cafeteria,” explained Tolentino. The communicator added that they had intelligence information that the victim had been “sold from Colombia” to be intercepted at that time at the location.

The journalist detailed that among those arrested is the Colombian Diego Alexander Liberato. Likewise, he indicated that this criminal structure had been operating for several months in upper and upper-middle-class sectors of the National District such as Piantini, Naco, Arroyo Hondo, and Rómulo Betancourt Avenue, accumulating multiple complaints for the theft of luxury watches (Rolex), iPhones, gold chains, and bank cards.
Tolentino positively valued the rapid intervention of the police authorities and the local prosecutor’s office, highlighting that the incident did not escalate further thanks to the fact that only the owner and an employee were in the premises at that time.
Hansel García demands trial, prison, and subsequent deportation of Colombians
Addressing the incident, journalist and fellow panelist Hansel García issued a forceful call to judicial and police authorities to apply the full weight of the law against the accused, warning that no leniency should be granted due to the fact that they are foreigners.
“They are criminals with specific and studied niches. They are not petty thieves snatching purses by chance… They are criminals just the same and must face the same consequences,” asserted García. The communication professional rejected any attempt at preferential treatment and questioned the actions of the Dominican justice system in cases of this type: “And although this may sound uncomfortable, may sound unpopular, I do not want special treatment just because they are foreigners… I know the authorities of this country; those guys will be standing in front of a patrol car any minute now.”

García concluded that Dominican society cannot tolerate the arrival of foreign antisocials and urged the authorities to send a clear signal against irregular crime:
“And this must be taken to its ultimate consequences. Those lowlifes must be apprehended, prosecuted, and imprisoned, and then deported to their country. We don’t want scum here. They could be Colombian, Venezuelan, Spanish, Chinese, or Haitian… We already have enough of our own problems here.”
