Santiago.- A 45-year-old woman was found lifeless this Wednesday in a ravine in the Nueva Luz sector, in Rafey, Santiago, in an incident that has caused consternation among community residents and is being investigated by authorities as a possible violent death.
The victim was preliminarily identified as Sujeidy Arias, whose body was located around 12:00 PM among rubble and debris in a remote area of the aforementioned sector.
According to preliminary information provided by local residents, there are suspicions that the woman may have been a victim of sexual assault before being murdered and abandoned in the ravine, where she was allegedly covered with rubble to hide the body.
However, these versions have not been confirmed by the authorities who have initiated the investigations into the case
Following the discovery, members of the National Police and units from the 9-1-1 National Emergency and Security Response System arrived at the scene to secure the area, while awaiting the arrival of personnel from the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif) to carry out the removal of the body and determine the circumstances of the death.

As part of the investigations, authorities are holding the victim’s romantic partner for questioning, identified as Jesús María López, known as “Richard”, who remains in custody while the inquiries proceed.
The discovery has generated indignation and concern among family members and residents of Nueva Luz, who demand that the case be clarified and that responsibilities be established if the commission of a crime is confirmed.
The authorities reported that they continue to collect evidence and testimonies to determine the causes of death and fully clarify this event that has shocked the Rafey community.
