Tokyo.- The unemployment rate in
Japan remained at 2.6% in November for the fourth consecutive month, the Japanese Executive reported this Friday.
The number of unemployed in Japan in the eleventh month of the year was 1.71 million, an increase of 70,000 people compared to the same month last year, according to data published by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, which noted that this is the fourth month of increase in the figure.
The number of employed people in the Asian country in October was 68.62 million, an increase of 480,000 individuals year-on-year, marking the fortieth month of increase in the figure, the ministry highlighted.
The number of available jobs per 100 people seeking employment in Japan was 118, unchanged from the previous month, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare detailed in a separate report.
New job offers decreased across all sectors, but primarily in entertainment (19.9% less than in the same month of the previous year), in sales (17.2% less), and in the restaurant sector (14.1% less), according to Health.
The data reveals the persistent rigidity of the Japanese labor market and represents an obstacle to the growth of the world’s fourth-largest economy, which is undergoing an accelerated demographic aging process and where a growing number of companies are grappling with a labor shortage.
