Isabel Pantoja thrilled the hearts of Dominicans in Altos de Chavón

Altos de Chavón, La Romana – At 9:15 at night, the renowned Spanish artist Isabel Pantoja took the stage at the Altos de Chavón amphitheater, being received with ovation, applause and shouts from an audience that had been eager to see her for thirteen years. Pantoja began her performance by interpreting “Del olvido no me acuerdo”, a musical hit released in 2016, which marked the beginning of a memorable night, where the feeling, nostalgia and the profound lyrics, sung with Isabel’s well-cared-for voice, touched the hearts of all those present. Accompanied by the Santo Domingo Philharmonic Orchestra, other musical themes were added such as “Buenos días tristeza”, “No discutamos”, “Hazme tuya una vez más”, “Nada”, “Dímelo”, “Hasta que se apague el sol” and “Abrázame muy fuerte”, a musical theme with which she remembered her dear friend, the great Juan Gabriel. In addition to this were the songs “América”, “Marinero de luces”, “Pensando en ti”, “Era mi vida”, “Hoy quiero confesar”, “A mi manera”, “Qué voy a hacer contigo”, “El moreno” and “Se me enamora el alma”, among others, for a total of 21 songs in more than two hours of show.

From the beginning of the concert, Isabel showed her interpretative greatness, as well as an impressive stage presence, overflowing with elegance, grace and a powerful stage presence of her own, evidencing that, even 50 years later, these continue to be elements that stand out in her essence. The connection with the audience was present at all times during Isabel’s concert. The artist showed her good sense of humor, joking about situations in her life, as well as maintaining a special closeness with the thousands of fans present.

Isabel publicly thanked the audience for supporting her throughout so many years of her career. In addition, she stated how special it was to be on the grand stage of Altos de Chavón for the first time, taking the opportunity to confess that the rest and peace she has had in these last few days in the Dominican Republic is something that, she said, she had not experienced in almost all her life.

“I am super happy to be here for the first time, in this wonderful place like Casa de Campo and Altos de Chavón. It is an honor and I want to give, first of all, thanks from the bottom of my heart for the days I have spent here. They have been for me the most beautiful and happiest rest I have had in almost all my life,” he expressed.

The artist, visibly moved, was seen crying throughout the show, and she expressed that it is too special for her to receive the love and affection of the public so far from home, stating that perhaps in Spain it is normal to receive recognition and affection from people; however, traveling so many kilometers, crossing continents and passing so much water between one place and another to receive the love and support of the public is something very special, which is why it represented an important moment for her.

One of the most special moments of the night occurred when a fan approached the stage and presented him with a Virgen de la Altagracia while he was performing his song “Virgen del Rocío”. The gift, accompanied by a floral arrangement, deeply moved the artist, who could not hold back the tears at the gesture of the Dominican public. During the concert, Pantoja expressed that the Virgen de la Altagracia will have a special place on her altar “for the years I have left to live.”

“Little Virgin, give us health… this virgin is beautiful, I will have her with me on my altar, okay… for the years I have left she will be with me,” she said excitedly to those present.

One of the most emotional moments of Isabel’s concert was when maestro Amaury Sánchez arrived on stage, who, together with the Santo Domingo Philharmonic, performed “Así fue”, with arrangements and a bachata version that surprised everyone present.
