Santo Domingo.– The General Hospital of the Plaza de la Salud (HGPS) reported this Friday that the merengue artist Gilberto Julián Sarante Perdomo, known as Julián Oro Duro, is showing adequate clinical progress and has been discharged, following the surgical procedure he underwent this Thursday.
According to the health center, the intervention was performed by the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and proceeded without incident so far.

During the medical evaluation performed this Friday, Julián Oro Duro was found to be stable within his condition, therefore, following the assessment by the attending medical teams, his hospital discharge was determined.
The artist will continue his recovery at home, following the recommendations and treatment indicated by the Maxillofacial Neurosurgery and Internal Medicine departments.
The HGPS indicated that it will continue to provide information on the patient’s progress through its institutional channels, if necessary.
Julián Oro Duro remained hospitalized after being wounded during the assault that occurred at his residence, an incident in which his wife, Zeneida Socorro Castillo, died.
Julián Oro Duro Case
The case dates back to the early hours of Monday, September 21, when the merengue singer Gilberto Julián Sarante Perdomo, known as Julián Oro Duro, returned to his residence located in Brisa Oriental VI, in Santo Domingo East, and was attacked by several men. In the incident, his wife, Zeneida Socorro Castillo, 60, who was in the home, died. The artist was wounded and was taken to a medical center.

According to preliminary investigations by the National Police, Castillo was allegedly attacked before her husband returned to the residence. Authorities initially indicated that they were seeking to establish the exact time the attackers entered the home and the moment the death occurred, elements considered important to reconstruct the sequence of events.
During the course of the investigation, the Police reported that four people were linked to the case. Among them are Phillips Michael Tejeda Vásquez, Juan Carlos Hernández García, Kevin Dariel Germán Troncoso, alias “Yandel”, and Lawrence Mark Liranzo Marcos, alias “Chiquito”. The institution noted that two of the individuals identified maintained ties of trust with the artist and his entourage.
According to the version provided by the Police, “Yandel” and “Chiquito” allegedly arrived at the residence around 5:00 in the afternoon on Sunday and were received by Zeneida Socorro Castillo, who, according to the investigation, even prepared food and drinks for them. Both allegedly remained in the home until the arrival of Julián Oro Duro in the early morning hours.
The authorities also reported that Phillips Michael Tejeda Vásquez, who allegedly had a close working relationship with the artist, is preliminarily identified as one of the people who coordinated the event. The Police indicated that he performed work at the merengue singer’s properties and also accompanied him on some activities.
Subsequently, Julián Oro Duro reportedly identified two people from his circle to investigators. The information was released by the National Police spokesperson, Diego Pesqueira, who explained that the investigations aim to determine the level of involvement of each of those implicated.
One of the individuals identified, Kevin Dariel Germán Troncoso, turned himself in to the authorities. Subsequently, other individuals involved were detained, while Lawrence Mark Liranzo Marcos, alias “Chiquito”, was identified as the fourth person sought by the authorities and was later arrested via an arrest warrant.

The motive for the incident remains under investigation. Initially, the hypothesis of a robbery was considered, as Julián Oro Duro had allegedly been stripped of money, jewelry, and a cell phone. However, authorities have indicated that they continue to deepen their inquiries to establish what happened and what the circumstances were that led to the death of Zeneida Socorro Castillo.
The National Police have indicated that the investigation remains open and that, together with the Public Prosecutor’s Office, they continue to collect evidence to establish the individual responsibilities of each of those involved and to determine precisely how the events occurred.
