Between 60 and 80% of the 190 confirmed carnival groups participated in this first outing, in a parade that began with the catwalk of King Momo, Ramón Salcedo “Chanina”, along with the newly elected queen of the Vegano Carnival, Kiara Ortiz, who headed the official opening of the event. To ensure safety and order, the presence of various organizations was counted on, including the Dominican Red Cross, Civil Defense, the National Police and Politur, in addition to private security, who maintained a wide deployment along the route, ensuring the well-being of participants and spectators. The orange, blue, green, red, and purple colors, dominated this first presentation, combined with metallic fabrics in gold and silver tones, appliqués and rhinestones that enhanced the visibility of the traditional “diablos cojuelos”, providing brightness and fantasy to the parade. In addition to the traditional characters, the public was able to appreciate innovative proposals inspired by popular culture and current entertainment, such as representations alluding to “La Casa de Alofoke”, from the reality show led by Santiago Matías, reaffirming the constant creative evolution that characterizes the Vegano Carnival.
