Mariah Carey kicks off Christmas 2026 with a punk-style video and her traditional “It’s Time”

American singer Mariah Carey welcomed the holiday season once again this Sunday, November 1st, with the release of her traditional “It’s Time” video, a production that this year incorporates a punk aesthetic and references to her alternative musical side from the nineties.

As every year, following the Halloween celebration, the artist shared the audiovisual material on her digital platforms, where it generated numerous reactions among her followers. The post marks the beginning of one of the singer’s most recognized traditions, associated with her Christmas hit All I Want for Christmas Is You.

As the clock approaches midnight, the scenery transforms into a winter landscape that heralds the arrival of Christmas.

The transition culminates with the return of her iconic song All I Want for Christmas Is You, released in 1994 and having become one of the most representative tracks of the year-end celebrations.

Why does Mariah Carey welcome Christmas?

Mariah Carey’s tradition of announcing the arrival of Christmas with the phrase “It’s Time!” originated from a popular internet joke.

For years, social media users have spread memes claiming that, once Halloween is over, the singer is “defrosted” to begin performing her famous Christmas song.

The artist decided to incorporate this reference into her posts and turn it into an annual tradition.

It became a Christmas tradition

On November 1, 2019, Carey released one of her first themed videos to mark the start of the season.

In that recording, she appeared lying down in her Halloween costume when, at 12:01 AM, she received a call from Santa Claus.

The scene culminated with the singer uttering her signature phrase “It’s Time!”, followed by her Christmas song.

Since then, the release of these videos has become an annual appointment for her followers, who wait every November 1st for a new proposal from the artist.

With its 2026 edition, Carey keeps the tradition alive, this time combining her rock side with the classic elements of Christmas.
