San Pedro de Macorís, RD – The CLISID clinic publicly responded to the complaint made by urban singer Manuel Varet, artistically known as Vakeró, who accused the nursing staff of alleged mistreatment during the medical attention provided to his two-year-old son in the emergency room. “At CLISID, we have received with deep concern and sadness the testimony shared by Mr. Manuel Varet (Vakeró) regarding the care his son received in our emergency room. We want to be categorical: what was described does not represent the values, mission, or heart of our institution. Our raison d’être, over 7 years and more than 2 million services provided, has always been the well-being and health of our community. However, we recognize that any situation where empathy fails is unacceptable and goes against our fundamental principles,” expressed the statement. In the document, CLISID acknowledged that any failure related to empathy and human treatment is unacceptable, especially when dealing with patients in a state of vulnerability, and emphasized that sensitivity must be a fundamental pillar in medical care, particularly in pediatric and emergency cases. The clinic reported that it initiated a thorough internal investigation to clarify the reported facts, which includes the review of security cameras and the protocols corresponding to the shift in which the incident occurred, with the aim of determining responsibilities.

In addition, they announced the strengthening of their training programs in humanized care to prevent similar situations from happening again. Finally, CLISID offered a public apology to the Varet family and to anyone who has felt affected, reiterating its commitment to maintaining a close, dignified, and ethical treatment with each patient who comes to its facilities in search of medical attention.
