Santo Domingo, RD – After a prolonged rivalry that escalated to the courts and was recently definitively archived, businessman Santiago Matías (Alofoke) and communicator Isaura Taveras gave public signs of reconciliation by holding a live telephone conversation during Alofoke Radio Show, where both agreed on the need to turn the page and leave the differences behind.
The call, made on Monday night and mediated by communicator Jessica Pereira, panelist of Alofoke Radio, served as a stage for Isaura Taveras to express a conciliatory stance, highlighting the importance of recognition and maturity. “When emotions calm down, the most important thing one can do is recognize if they made a mistake at any point. Going back is also for very great people,” she stated, while acknowledging Matías’ leadership in the communication industry.
Taveras emphasized that differences in thought should not translate into personal disqualifications. “That I do not share many things about your personality does not mean that I fill myself with mediocrity and meanness so as not to say when you do things well,” he affirmed, stressing that he has always recognized the contributions and achievements of the businessman.
In that same order, the communicator referred to the conflicts that arose with members of El Mañanero’s team and with her when she belonged to the space, assuring that that chapter already belongs to the past. “That’s behind me. Today I am focused on doing my job, on learning and growing, because you learn from everyone, especially from those who have achieved great things,” she expressed.
For his part, Santiago Matías made it clear that the conflict with Isaura was never of a personal nature, making it clear that although a legal dispute occurred, it never had to do with her. “My issue and Isaura’s is not a personal issue. Many times these issues become issues of sides when one works with groups,” he explained, alluding to unnecessary tensions that were generated in the media and social networks.
Matías also acknowledged that there were situations that got out of control and assumed his position within the conflict. “An unnecessary situation was excited with you being there in El Mañanero, and I understand that you did what you had to do to establish your respect, your space and your distance,” he said, revealing that he even offered apologies during the process.
This public approach occurs some time after the Public Ministry definitively ratified the case file for defamation and insult filed by Taveras against Matías, a decision that, according to the businessman’s defense, does not admit any additional appeal.
With this exchange, both protagonists put aside one of the most intense controversies in the Dominican Republic’s media.
