Santo Domingo.– The businessman and content creator Santiago Matías, known as Alofoke, surprised viewers this Friday night by announcing to more than two million spectators connected during the broadcast of Planeta Alofoke the possible definitive departure of Alofoke Radio Show, one of the most influential and iconic digital programs in the Dominican Republic.

During the announcement, Matías was accompanied by the current members of the space, including Dotol Nastra, Vitaly Sánchez, Jessica Pereira, Ali David Demey, and Wilson Sued. The CEO of Alofoke Media Group took the opportunity to publicly thank those who have been part of the project over the years, highlighting the contributions of figures such as Melvin de León, DJ Topo, Cristian Casablanca, Luinny Corporán, Chico Sandy, Moisés Salce, El Pachá, and Sabrina Gómez.

“I wanted to share during this prime time with the entire audience the official announcement of the end of an era. Today I gathered my colleagues of many years here to communicate the closing of Alofoke Radio as a program and as a show. We will take with us great moments and I thank everyone who was part of this story,” expressed Matías during the live broadcast.

The communicator also explained that the decision responds to the natural evolution of the project and the changes the platform has experienced in recent years. “Alofoke Radio has already reached its peak, what I understand was its mission. We no longer go to the booth every day, barely twice a week, and I really cannot be selfish. I have to let everyone continue to develop professionally,” he stated.

Matías acknowledged that the news may be difficult for the audience that has followed the program for years, but assured that the measure was agreed upon with his team. “I know that for many people it is a bittersweet decision, but to do an intermittent program, it is better to close chapters. We are doing what our hearts dictate,” stated the businessman, who also asserted that entertainment and opinion formats have evolved toward new platforms and audiences.

Likewise, he confessed that the closure would represent an important change in his career, although he considers it necessary to bet on new projects. “Of course I will miss the format, I will miss you all very much. I have always tried to innovate and do new things. I don’t want to become just another one in a market where there are already too many podcasts and too many people talking,” he expressed.

Following the announcement, several of his colleagues, including Vitaly and Nastra, reacted by expressing their disagreement with the decision, highlighting the surprise the news generated within the team itself. This is not the first time the closure of the program has been proposed, as in 2023 Matías had announced a similar measure amidst controversies that affected the show. However, Alofoke Radio Show managed to stay on the air and consolidate itself as a mandatory reference for Dominican digital communication, with an audience that transcends the country’s borders.
