Sherlyn Ramírez highlights the Dominican pride behind the documentary “Más Allá del Humo”

The producer and founder of Selene Films, Sherlyn Ramírez, highlighted the pride of bringing the history of Dominican tobacco to the big screen through the documentary “Beyond the Smoke,” a production that seeks to make visible the value of an industry that represents the country on international stages.
Ramírez explained that the initiative arose from the desire to tell a story of his own about the Dominican cigar, a product he considers of great relevance for the projection of the Dominican Republic worldwide.
“I believe it has taken us a long time to make a documentary, some source about our product, which is currently number one internationally”, expressed the producer when explaining the motivations that drove the development of this cinematographic proposal.
During the production’s premiere, Ramírez highlighted the importance of creating audiovisual spaces that allow for showcasing the work, tradition, and cultural value that exist behind this industry.
Likewise, he pointed out that one of his main objectives is for the public to connect with the feeling of national pride that this production represents and to recognize the impact of Dominican tobacco beyond its borders.
“I want them to remain proud that we managed to make visible a product that is currently number one and that represents us,” he stated, referring to the message he hopes to convey through the documentary.
For Ramírez, “Beyond the Smoke” constitutes an opportunity to recognize the value of Dominican tobacco and tell the stories of those who keep this tradition alive, highlighting the effort of the people who contribute to its development and international projection.
With this proposal, Selene Films commits to a narrative that transcends the product and delves into the human experiences surrounding it, inviting the audience to discover the stories, values, and identity hidden behind every cigar.
