Travis Kelce, NFL player and husband of Taylor Swift, was among a group of investors defrauded by financial adviser Siddharth Jawahar, who was sentenced to 11 years in prison and ordered to pay $31.35 million in restitution.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Missouri, prosecutors identified Kelce as one of Jawahar’s victims during Tuesday’s sentencing. They did not disclose how much Kelce invested or how much he lost.
The fraud dated back to 2016 and involved a Ponzi scheme in which Jawahar allegedly misrepresented how investors’ money was being used. Court records showed that more than $35 million was taken from Swiftarc Capital, while only about $10 million was actually invested between July 2016 and December 2023.
Some of the money was spent on private jets, luxury hotels and apartments, clothing, meals and private club memberships. Jawahar pleaded guilty in January to three counts of wire fraud.
