At least eight agents of the National Civil Police of Guatemala died this Sunday, while around 11 are injured amid the disturbances that originated the previous day in three prisons in the country, organized by the Barrio 18 gang, local media report.

In light of the acts of violence, the Ministry of Education of the country suspended classes nationwide tomorrow “as a preventive measure” and under the recommendation of the security authorities. Likewise, public transport was suspended in a large part of the capital.
