Washington.– Various political figures from the United States, including President Donald Trump, former President Barack Obama (2009-2017), and former Vice President Kamala Harris, expressed their support this Sunday for Joe Biden, after learning that the former president suffers from “aggressive” prostate cancer with bone metastasis.
According to a statement from his office, Biden, 82, was examined last week after experiencing an increase in urinary symptoms. On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer with a Gleason score of 9 (Group 5), accompanied by bone metastasis.

“While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be sensitive to hormones, which allows for effective treatment,” the statement specifies, adding that Biden and his family are reviewing different treatment options with their doctors.
Trump wishes him a speedy recovery
President Donald Trump expressed his best wishes to his predecessor through his platform Truth Social this Sunday.
“Melania and I are saddened to learn of Joe Biden’s recent medical diagnosis. We send our best wishes to Jill and the family, and we wish Joe a speedy and successful recovery,” he wrote.

Former Vice President Kamala Harris also reacted to the announcement. In an Instagram post, she expressed that she and her husband, Doug Emhoff, are “saddened” by the diagnosis, and noted that they are keeping Biden and his family in their prayers.
“Joe Biden is a fighter, and I know he will face this challenge with the same strength, resilience, and optimism that have defined his life and his leadership,” he stated.

Obama recalls his commitment to the fight against cancer
Former President Barack Obama expressed his solidarity with Biden and his family. In a social media post, he highlighted the former president’s role in promoting cancer research.
“Nobody has done more to find innovative treatments for cancer in all its forms than Joe, and I am sure that he will face this challenge with the determination and grace that characterizes him,” he wrote.
Biden left the White House in January 2025 as the oldest president to hold office. During his term (2021-2025), he was the subject of constant questions about his health and fitness to hold office. In February 2023, a cancerous lesion was removed from his chest, after which he was considered disease-free and without the need for further treatment.
In early 2024, his personal physician declared him fit to continue in office after a physical examination. However, in July of that year, Biden declined to seek reelection and endorsed the candidacy of his then-Vice President, Kamala Harris, who was defeated by Trump at the polls.
Following the death of his son Beau Biden from brain cancer in 2015, the former president spearheaded the Cancer Moonshot initiative, with the goal of reducing deaths from this disease by 50% in the next 25 years.
