The body of Lorretta Moody, a 67-year-old Kansas grandmother, was found inside a suitcase that two people brought to a Wichita fire station on September 16. Police are investigating her death as a homicide.
Police said the two people who brought the suitcase to the station told firefighters there was a body inside. Investigators have interviewed both individuals, but no arrests have been announced. The Wichita Police Department said the investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue speaking with anyone who may have information.
Moody had previously been reported missing, according to local media. Her granddaughter, Alexis Trotter, said the family wants her to be remembered as a loving grandmother and great-grandmother rather than for the circumstances surrounding her death.
Trotter said the family hopes those responsible will be identified and held accountable. A GoFundMe campaign for Moody’s funeral expenses had raised nearly $800 toward a $5,500 goal, according to the report.
